When Bayshore Fire Rescue crews returned from a call to find the brush truck missing, the agency turned to social media for help.

“If you see this truck, please do NOT engage with the driver - call 9-1-1 immediately,” the department said.

Several people posted sightings of the vehicle, which was eventually found, undamaged, in Manatee County.

Fire Chief Lawrence Nisbet thanked the community for its support.

“The Facebook community, the shares, the updates, the posts, the sightings — you made it able for us to get our truck back,” he said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

No suspect information was given, but the fire department said on social media that the thief was apprehended.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
