Florida deputy finds alligator roaming around elementary school

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — The mascot for Everglades Elementary School in Florida may be an alligator, but a deputy did not expect to find a real gator at the school.

Okeechobee County Deputy Brandon Greis found the 4 1/2-foot alligator roaming around the school, which is located in the central Florida city of Okeechobee, WPEC reported.

Greis was able to catch the reptile and relocate it to Nubbin Slough, a river located in Okeechobee County.

“All in a day’s work,” Michele Bell, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, wrote in a Facebook post.
