Eric Weinberg, who was a co-executive producer on the television series “Scrubs” and “Californication,” is accused of sexual assault, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Weinberg was arrested Thursday on charges stretching over seven years, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Weinberg was booked into jail for “several sexual assaults including rape,” according to police.
According to police, Weinberg appeared to have targeted women in grocery stores, coffee shops and other public places, Variety reported. Police alleged that Weinberg would approach the women, who were in their 20s and 30s, and tell them he was a photographer. Weinberg then would tell the women he could arrange photo shoots with him at his home, the police report stated.
Representatives for Weinberg could not be reached for comment, the Times reported.
Weinberg was an executive producer for 92 episodes of “Scrubs” from 2001 to 2007, the newspaper reported. He also was a writer for 11 episodes, according to IMDb.com. He also served as a producer for “Veronica’s Closet,” “Anger Management,” “Death Valley” and “Men at Work,” according to the website.
He was nominated for five Emmy Awards -- for “Scrubs” as co-producer in 2005 and 2006, and in the writing category for “Politically Correct With Bill Maher” in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Weinberg is being held on $3.225 million bail, police said.
