Emma Stone will reprise her role as the dastardly fur-loving villain in the Disney sequel to “Cruella.”
Stone, who won an Academy Award in 2017 as best actress in “La La Land,” will return as Cruella de Vil in the Disney production, Variety reported.
The live-action prequel to the animated classic “101 Dalmations” debuted on May 28 in theaters and on Disney+ under the streaming service’s Premier Access tier. The film has earned more than $220 million at box offices worldwide, according to Variety.

News of Stone’s return to the project was first reported by Deadline.
Director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara are returning for the sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Endeavor executive chairman Patrick Whitesell, whose company represents Stone, said he was proud to work with the actress and Disney.

Disney has found success transforming its archive of animated classics for live-action features, beginning with “Alice in Wonderland” in 2010. Other films include “Maleficent” (2014), “Cinderella” (2015), “Beauty and the Beast” (2017), “Aladdin” (2019) and “The Lion King” (2019).
The studio has live-action versions of “Pinocchio,” “Peter Pan & Wendy” and “The Little Mermaid” in various stages of development, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
