DENVER — A Colorado family that has protections in its yard for its Pomeranian against coyotes, never thought its small dog would become prey for a bald eagle.
The family left Saint, a 3-year-old Pomeranian, in the backyard with its other dogs but when it returned from dinner only two of the three pets came to greet the family members, KMGH reported.
The family went to the backyard and found a big pile of fur and a pool of blood. A large bald eagle was in a nearby tree.
“I hear one of the most horrifying sounds of my life. And I actually heard the bird kill my dog," Amanda Harper told KMGH. “My dog was supposed to grow up with my children, he had 10 more years of his life, and now he’s gone.”
