Could diet branding on soda be a thing of the past?
CNN reported that some soft drink brands are changing what they call low-calorie beverages.
Many like 7Up, A&W and Sunkist’s are being marketed as Zero Sugar drinks instead of diet.
But while the names have been changing the drinks themselves are the same, no matter if they’re called diet or zero sugar, CNN reported.
The only one owned by the Keurig Dr Pepper company will be called Diet Dr Pepper, which will keep its diet label and will appear on shelves alongside a zero sugar variation.
But why the change in marketing?
Millennials and Gen Z shoppers don’t like the word diet, CNN reported.
Pepsi also has changed the name of some of its lower-calorie drinks, changing Pepsi Max to Pepsi Zero Sugar, CNN reported.
