VENICE, Fla. — The Easter Bunny wasn’t out early Sunday morning in a Florida neighborhood. Instead, a massive alligator was spotted walking outside homes early Sunday morning.
Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office shared video of the animal on Facebook, saying they estimated the alligator was 10 feet long.
First things first: Happy Easter! 🐰 Secondly, we’re not sure if the Easter bunny made its way to Harrington Lake in Venice this morning after coming across this bad boy… We’re guessing he was about 10 feet in length and boy, did he take his time making it back to the lake he came from. (…We can’t blame him just thinking about how heavy that tail must be) FWC was advised but did not respond. For that reason, it’s safe to assume he’s still swimming in this lake, enjoying this beautiful Easter Sunday. Stay safe & call us if you need us. 👮🏽♂️🐊🚨

In the video, the deputy filming says, “Just walking our pet alligator this morning,” as the animal walks on the grass, before stopping and laying down.
The gator continued making its way through the neighborhood, eventually making its way to a community lake, The Associated Press reported.
Deputies said they called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, but the agency did not feel the need to respond.
According to the Fish and Wildlife Commission, alligators are found in all of Florida’s 67 counties, and recent population growth has resulted in more frequent interactions with the animals.
