Delta made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane on the southwestern Louisiana coast near Creole early Friday evening, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The hurricane, the first with a Greek letter to hit the U.S. mainland and the fourth-named storm to hit Louisiana this year, is the ninth hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.
