MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Police in Florida questioned and later released rapper DaBaby following a Memorial Day shooting that left two people injured, authorities said.
According to The Associated Press, the incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. Police responded to reports of possible gunfire to find two people injured – one with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and another who had been shot in the leg, authorities said. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was treated and released and the other remains in critical condition, the AP reported.
Miami Beach police questioned several people in connection with the incident, including 29-year-old DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, according to the AP. He was later released, police said.
Police have since arrested two suspects, the AP reported. Wisdom Awute, a 21-year-old rapper signed to DaBaby’s Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment label, and Christopher Urena, 29, are facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to the Miami Herald.
