BEERWAH, Australia — Planning a trip Down Under? Animal-loving tourists soon will be able to book a room at an Australia Zoo resort named for late “Crocodile Hunter” star Steve Irwin.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, the Queensland zoo said it will open its Crocodile Hunter Lodge “in a matter of months.”
“We will start taking bookings for this one-of-a-kind accommodation experience for the whole family in June,” the attraction wrote. “Enjoy wildlife, fine dining and admission to Australia Zoo included in your stay. We are proud to build on Steve’s dreams.”
According to the Queensland Department of Tourism, the lodge will feature accommodations “ranging from high-end luxury cabins to bush camping experiences.” The site will include eight luxury cabins, as well as a group camping area, restaurant, reception and pool, the department said.
A job post on the zoo’s website added that the lodge “is home to beautiful native wildlife, with black cockatoos and kangaroos visiting most days.” The resort also “will overlook a state-of-the-art home for our resident emus, kangaroos and koalas,” the post read.
Irwin’s 18-year-old son, Robert, offered a “sneak peek” at the resort in a YouTube video last month.
