TOKYO — A U.S. gymnast tested positive Sunday for COVID-19 in an Olympic training camp in Japan ahead of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, officials with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Gymnastics said Monday.

The athlete was identified by her father, Mark Eaker, and by her coach, Ali Fong, as Kara Eaker, one of the four alternates for the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team, according to The Associated Press , KSHB-TV and KMBC-TV .
