Sicily is making an offer few travelers may be able to refuse -- the island will cover half the cost of a flight and a third of hotel expenses to visit.
It also is offering free tickets to museums and archaeological sites, The Times of London reported.
The island is offering the promotion through its tourism website. The promotion is expected to cost Sicily about $54 million.
The island has lost more than $1.09 billion in tourism-related spending since closing March 10, The Times reported.
Italy’s lockdown ends May 4.

There are 205,463 confirmed cases and 27,967 deaths from the coronavirus in Italy, according to Johns Hopkins’ tracking information.
