PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man had quite a morning wake-up call Friday when he found an alligator trapped on his back porch.
The growling Tim Kelly heard as he grabbed his coffee was coming from the reptile that had gotten snared on an end table on his lanai and could not move, WTVT reported.
“I got to tell you, when he was right there and he was stuck in that, I was like, ‘Wow, now what am I going to do?’” Kelly said.
He called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
As Kelly waited for a trapper to arrive, the alligator was able to break free from the table and jumped into the pool.
“We were just sitting here having coffee just watching him swim around in the pool,” Kelly said. “He would come up here and rest on the steps, then sink to the bottom again.”
Wildlife officials arrived and were able to capture the alligator, which will be relocated because of its size.
“It was unbelievable,” Kelly said. “Good start to a Friday morning, good weekend starter, got us up, that’s for sure.”
