Game show host Alex Trebek is giving fans an update on his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At the same time, Trebek teased “Jeopardy!” will be looking to the past for the near future.

Trebek, who was sporting a goatee, spoke about growing his facial hair while on hiatus due to coronavirus. He said he hopes to be back in the studio, safely, very soon.

The show stopped production in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Contestant auditions resumed last month via Zoom.

But he’s not taking a full break. Trebek said he has been recording introductions to classic episodes that will air over the next month, including his first “Jeopardy” broadcast.

Trebek also said that he is doing well and is still going through cancer treatments and that it is “paying off though it does fatigue me a great deal.” He said his numbers are good and that he was “feeling great.”

Trebek plugged his upcoming book, “The Answer is ... : Reflections on My Life,” which will be released on July 21.

He said he will be back in the studio to record episodes for the upcoming season.

Here is the schedule for the upcoming Jeopardy! Vault episodes:

  • Week of July 20: First decade
  • Week of July 27: Celebrity Jeopardy!
  • Week of Aug. 3: Million Dollar Masters
