COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. — A joyride took a dark turn after two Mississippi men found an unexpected stowaway in their trunk.
Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart told WLBT that the men found the car in Byram with the keys inside and a “free car” sign on the windshield.
The pair was a little startled, however, to discover a dead body in the trunk after they reached their destination and alerted the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office, MagnoliaStateLive.com reported.
The body has since been identified as 34-year-old Anthony McCrills, the news outlet reported.
Stuart told WLBT that McCrills had been in the trunk for several days when authorities responded, noting that the body was unclothed.
An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death is pending, MagnoliaStateLive.com reported.
