MANTON, Mich. — Two children were killed and another was injured when an Amish buggy was hit by a car in Michigan.
The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash happened in Cedar Creek Township, Michigan, on Monday just after 8 a.m. near East 16 Road and North 39 Road, according to MLive. A 7-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl were riding in the buggy.
The sheriff’s office said all three of the children were ejected from the buggy. According to The Associated Press, the 11-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy were declared dead at the scene. The 9-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.
“The Amish buggy approached the intersection and proceeded to cross through the intersection pulling into the path of the eastbound vehicle,” according to a news release obtained by the AP.
The 48-year-old man who was driving the car and his three passengers were not injured, the AP reported.
Authorities said in the news release obtained by MLive that they will not be releasing the name of the victims.
