SHELBY COUNTY, Texas — A Texas man was arrested after allegedly trying to find a girl on the dark web that he could "murder and eat," according to news outlets.
Alexander Nathan Barter, 21, was arrested just over a week ago in Shelby County, Texas, after an undercover officer allegedly had a conversation with Barter about his desire to find a young girl to sexually assault, murder, then eat, according to KTRE-TV.

According to an affidavit, Barter wrote a post on the dark web looking for someone to help him commit "necrophilia and cannibalism" and to contact him, KTRE reported. He also provided two encrypted email addresses as contacts.
An undercover officer intercepted Barter's communication and when he contacted Barter, the suspect allegedly asked "How old is your daughter? Can we kill her?" according to KTRK-TV.
The news station reported that the agent, posing as a father with a daughter, agreed to meet Barter for a hiking trip with the intent of "assaulting, killing and cannibalizing would be committed."
When the appointed time arrived on Oct. 19, Barter was met by law enforcement officials and arrested on the spot.
He’s facing up to 20 years in prison, if convicted of the charges.
