"Please be aware that the coupon is not supported by Publix and is not valid at any of our locations," the company said in a Monday tweet to a customer, echoing past comments on fake coupons. "We recommend that you do not participate in the promotion or provide your personal information."

On Tuesday, a similar comment was made by another Publix representative on Twitter.

Publix isn't the only retailer whose name is being used in coupon scams. HEB has been used in an $80 coupon scam for its 50th anniversary, although the company was founded in 1905.

Consumers should be aware that any coupon that seems too good to be true usually is. Legitimate business also do not ask for personal information, such as credit cards numbers or banking information, on a survey.
