CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A man armed with a machete died Sunday after he was shot outside a pool hall in Florida, according to multiple reports.
The man, who was not identified, had been kicked out of the Premier Billiards & Sports Club in Coral Springs around 2 a.m., police told the Miami Herald. Authorities said he returned to the bar minutes later, armed with a machete.
"He brandished a machete and went after a group of people," police spokesman Chris Swinson told the Herald.
Witnesses told WSVN the man got the machete from his car and that he had started to chase a person when another bar patron shot him.
"All of a sudden, I hear four gunshots," witness Thiago DeBortolli told WSVN.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital, where he died, according to WPLG.
Authorities told WSVN that officers believe the shooting was in self-defense and no arrests were immediately made. Police told WPLG the shooter was cooperating with investigators.
