HAINES CITY, Fla. — A Florida man is accused of dropping off his son on the side of a road because he thought the youth was gay, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Haines City Police Department, officers arrested Evenaud Julmeus, 30, Sunday after finding the underage boy outside the police station crying and holding a duffel bag with clothes, WFLA reported. The boy's age was redacted in court records, the television station reported.
Julmeus was charged with three counts of negligent child abuse, police said.
According to police, the boy told an officer his father kicked him out of the car because Julmeus discovered him "watching male pornography on his cellphone." Bay News 9 reported.
Julmeus drove the boy to a turn lane on U.S. 27 in Haines City near the police department and reportedly told him to get out, claiming, "Police will find you a new home," WFLA reported.
A bystander contacted the police department, authorities told Bay News 9.
