DA: 7-year-old survives being strangled, thrown off bridge

WORCESTER, Mass. — A 7-year-old girl survived being kidnapped, strangled and thrown off a bridge over the weekend, according to the Worcester County, Massachusetts, District Attorney’s Office.

The girl was found at 4 a.m. Sunday after she swam to shore at Lake Quinsigamand, authorities said.

According to police, Joshua Hubert, 35, took the girl from a family party at her grandparents’ house around 2:30 a.m., strangled her in a car and threw her off a bridge and into the lake.

Police said she survived the fall and swam to shore, where she was found with visible injuries.

Hubert has been charged with kidnapping.
