WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park just got a little quieter, at least near its railroad tracks.
Starting Wednesday, the city is now a quiet zone, meaning trains going through the area will no longer need to sound their horns at intersection crossings, unless there’s an emergency.
"It'll be nice to be able to get a good night's sleep where you're not getting woke up,” said Winter Park resident Brenda Jacques.
There are several other quiet zone areas in Central Florida, including Edgewood and four intersections in Orlando.
There are currently about 40 pending quiet zones stretching from Sanford to Orange County’s Pine Castle.
