Teenage boys arrested after Winter Park beating death set to face judge

ORLANDO, Fla. — Three teenage boys who were arrested after a 15-year-old died last year from injuries sustained during a fight are expected to face a judge next week, officials said.

Roger Trindade was seriously injured in the Oct. 15 beating in downtown Winter Park’s Central Park, police said.

Jagger Gouda had previously pleaded no contest to witness tampering and battery charges, court records said.

Investigators said Gouda is the youngest of three teenage boys who were arrested in connection with the beating. Jesse Sutherland and Simeon Hall were both charged with manslaughter.

Each of the boys is expected to be in court April 6 for a status hearing.

Hands, fists and feet were used as weapons against Trindade, who died after he was removed from life support following a two-day hospitalization, a police report said.

Police said Gouda initiated the sequence of events that led to the violent attack by spraying skunk spray at Trindade. He also threatened a middle school girl, saying she would “pay” if she mentioned the fight, investigators said.

The arrests came weeks after the alleged fight. Each of the boys was a student at Winter Park High School at the time of the incident.

Sutherland and Hall are accused of punching Trindade in the head. Prosecutors said Sutherland spat on the boy and bragged about dealing the “knockout punch.”

An autopsy determined that Trindade died of blunt-force trauma to the head.
