OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.,None — A hearing will be held Tuesday to decide what the future holds for an Osceola County teenager accused of impersonating a physician's assistant.
Matthew Scheidt is accused of going so far as to conduct exams on patients at Osceola Regional Medical Center.
The 17-year-old was arrested last week and accused of impersonating a physician's assistant. Detectives said he was mistakenly issued an ID at the hospital and went on to use it for about two weeks, conducting patient exams, handling IV's and even performing CPR on a patient in cardiac arrest.
Scheidt was released into the custody of his mother over the weekend, but was ordered to appear in court on Tuesday.
A judge will formally lay out the felony charges he's facing and decide what's next in the case.
A spokeswoman told WFTV that every patient treated at Osceola Regional Medical Center received the proper care, but the hospital is reviewing this case.
WFTV asked the hospital if there will be any action taken against the person who issued the ID to Scheidt, and is waiting for a response.
The State Attorney's Office said Scheidt is expected at the hearing, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Osceola County courthouse.
