SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Seminole County School Board voted Tuesday to remove the district’s “Seminole Connect” remote learning option for the 2021-2022 school year.
Seminole County Public Schools created four different learning models for the 2020-2021 school year, “to meet the unique needs of students, families and educators,” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district says they collected feedback on the four different models through surveys, focus groups, and forums.
One poll of teachers found that 84 percent of them felt the Seminole Connect instruction model should not continue for the 2021-22 school year.

SCPS also cited student performance data that shows students participating in face-to-face learning generally outperforming Seminole Connect students.
SCPS will still offer two learning options for the 2021-22 school year: face-to-face learning, and Seminole County Virtual School.
