ORLANDO, Fla.,None — Thousands of Rosen Hotels employees and their families now have access to a brand new medical center in Orlando. The facility is a first of its kind for hospitality workers, and it is free.
On Friday, the new Rosen Medical and Wellness Center was unveiled along International Drive, a place for thousands of Rosen Hotels employees to stay healthy and get medical care.
The new facility will provide healthcare and wellness programs for about 7,000 people, including employees and their families and college students.
And, the facility is much more than just a doctor or nurse.
“You will be doing here acupuncture?” asked Eyewitness News reporter Steve Barrett.
“We will be doing chiropractic, radiology, mammograms, podiatry and a bunch of other things. So you don't have to go searching for a specialist,” said Harris Rosen of Rosen Hotels and Resorts.
It is a state-of-the-art facility that includes exam rooms, lab facilities and even an exercise facility.
“You can come here and get all the services you need, especially the preventive services you know everyone needs to focus on that prevention,” said Kenneth Aldriged, director of health services.
And it is better than free: It is also part of the job.
“When you're here, you're on the clock. So if you're here for an hour or two, I'm paying you, and if you don't want to drive or don't have a car, I drive you,” said Rosen.
The facility will pay for itself, but Rosen believes its purpose is much bigger than that.
“When you do the right thing and you're able to improve the bottom line tremendously, boy, isn't that the best of both worlds?” said Rosen.
The facility will treat about 3,000 and 1,400 of their family members, along with about 3,500 students who attend the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.
