Report: Seahawks CB Shaquill Griffin named to Pro Bowl

SEATTLE — Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin has been added to the NFC’s Pro Bowl roster, according to multiple reports.

Griffin’s agent, Tony Bonagura, first shared the news in a congratulatory tweet on Sunday. Griffin’s alma matter, the University of Central Florida, confirmed the news with a tweet Monday morning.

The NFL has yet to officially make a public announcement on Griffin’s addition.

Griffin was named a Pro Bowl alternate when rosters were unveiled in December and joins Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner on the NFC roster.

Many players who are voted to the Pro Bowl sit out due to injuries sustained during the season. Players on teams who make the Super Bowl, like San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, also will not play in the game.

The Seahawks drafted Griffin in third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and drafted his twin brother, Shaquem, in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Griffin played in 14 games for the Seahawks this season and had 13 passes defensed along with 65 combined tackles.

The Seahawks finished the regular season with a 11-5 record and fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round.

The Pro Bowl will be played at 12 p.m. Sunday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
