ORLANDO, Fla. — U.S. Rep. Val Demings said Saturday morning that she would be willing to serve as former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate in the 2020 presidential election if he were to request it of her.
Demings told Joy Reid while appearing on MSNBC's "AM Joy" that she would accept such an invitation because she wants to help lead the nation through the public health crisis that is the COVID-19 pandemic.

Demings was asked in March about her name being floated around as a possible contender.
“I love being a member of Congress, but if asked, I would consider it an honor,” she said.
Demings has previously served as a social worker, Orlando police chief and a manager of the impeachment case against President Donald Trump.
