ORLANDO, Fla. — One week ahead of WFTV's U.S. Senate debate, which is being held at University of Central Florida, representatives from the campaigns of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy took part in a series of coin flips.
The coin flips were handled by WFTV anchor and debate panelist Greg Warmoth at Channel 9's studios.
The coin flips determined which candidate will give the first opening statement and the final closing statement; which one will take the first question from the panel during the debate; which green rooms the candidates will use at UCF's Fairwinds Alumni Center, the site of the debate; and where the candidates will stand on the stage during the debate.

Surrogates for the candidates took part in the coin tosses by calling in and calling heads or tails. Meanwhile, they watched the action as the coin tosses were shown on Facebook Live.
