ORLANDO, Fla. — Ahead of Election Day, there are new concerns about misinformation on social media.

A study by the Reboot Foundation found 12% of those surveyed rarely try to figure out if political posts online are actually true.
Congress has asked social media companies for better oversight and possible regulation.
“That they be potentially liable for false information,” suggested Helen Bouygues with Reboot Foundation. “I think that’s a step in the right direction. I think we need to go even further than that.”

Internet groups say it’s best to do your research through trusted websites to verify what’s factual.
