9 things to know about early voting in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Did you know you don’t have to wait until November 3 to cast your ballot in the General Election?

If you’ve never voted early in Florida but you’re ready to get ahead of the curve, read on...

1. Early voting is when a registered voter casts a ballot before election day by depositing it into a tabulation system.

2. Locations for early voting are designated by each county’s Supervisor of Elections.

3. Not all counties in Florida set the same days and hours for early voting.

4. By law, early voting must be held at least for 8 days, according to Florida Division of Elections.

5. Early voting in your county for the upcoming General Election may begin as soon as October 19 and end no later than November 1.

6. Supervisors of Elections must designate early voting sites no later than 30 days prior to an election.

7. Early voting sites must offer at least eight hours but no more than 12 hours per day during the applicable period.

8. The voting equipment used during early voting is the same as the equipment used on Election Day.
