ORLANDO, Fla. — After a 53-year hiatus, popular burger chain White Castle returned to Florida on Monday.

Billed as the largest free-standing White Castle in the world, the new Orlando location is at the Village at O-Town West in southwest Orlando on Daryl Carter Pkwy.

It officially opened to the public at 8 a.m. Monday following a ribbon cutting ceremony. Orange County Mayor Jerry Deming attended the ceremony.

The Orlando White Castle is the first in Florida since the chain closed its last Miami location in 1968.

The 4,567 square foot restaurant still has the iconic “tower” but with a more modern industrial-style design.

It features indoor and outdoor seating, two drive-through lanes, and is expected to create 120 new jobs.

During the grand opening, the Orlando Castle will be open for takeout, dine-in, and drive-through service from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Due to expected high demand, they’re limiting customers to 60 sliders per order.

Regular operating hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., seven days per week.
