‘You still could get the infection’: People should still wear masks in public even if they’ve been fully vaccinated, doctors say

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put out new guidelines Monday on how those who’ve been fully vaccinated can start reuniting with friends and family members.

According to the CDC, people who have been fully vaccinated can now gather with others who have been fully vaccinated without masks or social distancing.

Those who have been fully vaccinated can also get together with people who haven’t been vaccinated, but they must be people who are at low risk for getting severely ill.

Adventhealth doctors say people should still wear masks in public even if they have been vaccinated.

“You could still possibly pick up the virus and spread it unknowingly,” Dr. Tim Hendrix said.

Hendrix spoke with Eyewitness News on the matter and says people who have been vaccinated should look out for symptoms of the virus.

“If you have a fever or cough, or any COVID-19 symptoms, you still need to get tested even though you’ve been vaccinated because again, you still could get the infection,” he said.
