Woman killed after being hit by train in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Update: The woman was not struck at the crossing, but walking along the track north of the crossing, FHP said.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation as a result.

A woman was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a train in Brevard County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

It happened near Malabar Road, east of U.S. Highway 1, FHP said. A northbound Florida East Coast Railway train struck the woman, who sustained fatal injuries on scene.

The train is stopped and blocking Malabar Road. Drivers are encouraged to use Palm Bay Road as an alternate east-west route.

No further information was immediately available.
