Woman arrested in Disney ticket selling scam faces judge

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman accused of reselling Disney tickets to undercover Osceola County deputies faced a judge Thursday.

Investigators said Karrie Michelle Geith, Brett Snyder and Nola Davila charged a detective and a deputy $260 for tickets that they said had leftover days on them. The three said the undercover officers would need to use the ticket holder's names at the gate.

"Ms. Geith you are charged with unlawful sale of multi-day event tickets," a judge said.

According to Disney security, the three have been arrested in the past for the same scam.

"She is out on bond in Osceola. Grand theft three counts, counterfeiting admission tickets with an intent to defraud," the judge read in court.

Deputies said the undercover bust happened at a ticket counter inside the Second City convenience store on State Road 535.

The store manager said he thought the store owner was renting the counter to what he thought was a legitimate resort and not to people reselling used Disney tickets.

"Does the business look legitimate?" asked WFTV's Roy Ramos.

"It did at first. I was going to buy tickets," said tourist Jose Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said he was planning to purchasing tickets, but with no one working the counter, he was unable to.

"Be careful who you deal with.  Me, personally, I'd rather go to the gate and pay full price before I get in trouble for anything," said Gonzalez.

Disney officials said they explained to deputies that tickets were nontransferable, because the resale results of loss of revenue to the parks.

In this case, the sale would have cost Disney close to $1,000.
