ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman involved in two deadly crashes could face additional charges, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers said Annette Soto Diaz was driving on State Road 528 in the rain Tuesday when her car hit a tree. In November, investigators say she caused an I-95 crash while driving more than 100 mph and under the influence.

"Back on Nov. 1, we responded to a fatal crash in Brevard County -- a three-car crash on I-95 where a Mercedes was traveling at an extreme high rate of speed (and) rear-ended another car," FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.

One of Soto Diaz's passengers was killed and three people in the car in front of her were injured. According to the state, one of them had a punctured lung, one spent 12 days in the hospital and one has a severe facial scar.

A five-month investigation discovered Soto Diaz was drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana at an apartment before she drove to Palm Bay.

Soto Diaz turned herself in Wednesday and she is being held without bond.

Investigators believe she was involved in another fatal crash on Tuesday, but they don't believe she was under the influence.

"The same driver was driving a BMW westbound on the Beachline. It was pouring down rain and that driver lost control, ran off the road and struck a tree. Her rear passenger was killed in the crash and the front right passenger, her boyfriend, severely injured," Montes said.

Charges are pending against Soto Diaz in Tuesday's crash while troopers investigate.
