Winter Springs gives away over 1,000 free trees for Arbor Day

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — The City of Winter Springs will celebrate Arbor Day with a giveaway on Friday.

The city and Budget Tree Service, Inc. will help to deliver over 1,200 free trees and shrubs for its annual event.

Winter Springs Mayor Kevin McCann proclaimed April 28 as Arbor Day in the city.

Winter Springs residents must register online to choose their free trees. There are six types: Live Oak, Magnolia, Red Maple, Slash Pine, Tuscarora Crape Myrtle and Tea Olive.

The city said they would also deliver the trees to their house for free.

This initiative is geared toward inspiring residents to plant trees for environmental benefits.

Winter Springs gave 950 trees to residents last year, and officials hope to increase that number this year.
