He faced a judge for a domestic violence charge after allegedly roughing up his wife.

The chief didn’t have much to say as he walked out, stating he had faith in the legal system and that things would work out.

His attorney said he’s innocent of the charges, and they will be ready to go to court if it comes to that.

“It’s a position that he would prefer not to be in and he has never been in previously. But he’s in a good frame of mind,” defense attorney Bob Fisher said.

Records show Seminole County deputies were called to Deal’s home after an argument ensued involving Deal, his wife and their daughters regarding infidelity and integrity issues in the marriage.

He told deputies his wife and daughters were yelling at him, and he wanted to get away from the argument and didn’t touch anyone.

However, the others told deputies he grabbed his wife “by the wrist and slung/pushed her out of his way toward the pantry.”

As part of his release on bond, besides a trip to get some belongings, the chief has to stay away from his home, have no violent contact with his wife and surrender firearms.

The city has also placed him on leave until it can learn more about the case. After posting the $500 bond, Deal walked out of the jail and said the situation was “unfortunate.”
