A winter heat wave is almost here

ORLANDO, Fla. — In Florida, we tend to have warm winters. But later this week, it’ll be downright hot.

It’ll be our first 90-degree day of the year in many inland areas away from the beaches, and while not unheard of, hitting 90 in February is very rare.

The last time we had a 90-degree day in Orlando in February was way back in 1962.

In Leesburg and Sanford, there’s not been a day in record history in February to hit 90-degrees, but that may change later this week.

And it won’t be just one day, we’re talking near 90-degrees for five days or more.

We’ll have the chance of breaking records six days in a row starting Wednesday.

The much warmer than normal weather will last through the rest of the month.

Early March, a few cool fronts should be able to bring some cooler weather.
