Winter Garden officials on Feb. 9 approved buying some land to trade with Orange County Public Schools.

The city commission unanimously agreed to acquire 16.3 acres at 15275 W. Colonial Drive. The vote allows the city to prepare a purchase contract for the site as it talks with the district.
The property, which contains a forest, is owned by Orlando-based Panther Land Development LLC. The proposed price for the property is $5 million, and its market value is $3.93 million, according to the Orange County Property Appraiser.
