Investigation underway after wildfire threatened homes in Volusia County, officials say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Firefighters spent Thursday evening fighting a wildfire in Ormond Beach.

Firefighters say that the wildfire started in Ormond Beach between Clyde Morris Boulevard and Hand Avenue along 15 acres and grew to almost 130 acres.

Florida Forestry officials posted on Twitter just before midnight that the fire had been 100% contained.

Crews were able to control the fire and say they protected nearly 75 homes in the area.

Florida Forest Service Bunnell District and Daytona Beach Fire and Volusia County Fire responded to the wildfire call.
