ORLANDO, Fla. — The requirement that workers look for work in order to receive unemployment in Florida was suspended by the governor, however, that suspension expires at midnight on Friday.
As of right now, 1.11 million Floridians have unemployment claims. Since March, Florida has not required workers to look for a job in order to claim benefits. But the order from Governor Ron DeSantis will expire on May 9.
If it expires, workers would need to log in and confirm every two weeks that they searched for employment, even if there are no jobs.
During the last seven weeks, 33.5 million Americans filed for unemployment. On Thursday almost 3.2 million U.S. workers filed for unemployment.
