Which stores in Central Florida require face masks?

ORLANDO, Fla. — As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise, many businesses are making masks mandatory.

More businesses in Central Florida are requiring masks regardless of local government rules.

Publix

Effective July 21, Publix will require customers to wear face coverings while shopping in its stores.

Stores will post signs at entrances informing customers of the requirement.

Publix has said young children and those with medical conditions who are not able to wear face coverings would be allowed to enter the stores without a mask.

Walmart and Sam’s Club

Walmart and Sam’s Club stores nationwide will require face coverings beginning July 20.

Walmart said more than 65% of the company’s 5,000 stores and clubs are in areas where government officials have issued some form of a mask mandate and this move would bring more consistency company wide.

Target

Beginning Aug. 1, Target will start requiring masks or face coverings in all of its stores.

The company also said it plans to provide disposable masks at entrances to customers who don't have one.

Target said more than 80% of its stores already require customers to wear face coverings because of local government regulations.

CVS

All customers will be required to wear face coverings at their stores July 20.

“To be clear, we’re not asking our store employees to play the role of enforcer. What we are asking is that customers help protect themselves and those around them by listening to the experts and heeding the call to wear a face covering,” Target COO Jon Roberts said in a statement.

Walgreens

Walgreens said it would make masks mandatory nationwide beginning July 20.

The pharmacy chain had already made face coverings mandatory in several stores but only in areas with mask mandates.

“As cases continue to rise in many parts of the country, it’s critical we, as businesses and members of the community, do everything we can,” said Walgreens chief medical officer Kevin Ban .
