What we know about the 2 Orlando police officers shot

ORLANDO, Fla. — Both officers who were shot Friday night in downtown Orlando are expected to make a full recovery, Police Chief Eric Smith confirmed Saturday afternoon.

Their names have not been released since they are victims of a crime. However, we do know it was a male and female officer.

Doctors said both are out of surgery and will survive their injuries. However, it’s not clear what the conditions are at this point.

Chief Eric Smith thanked staff at ORMC for their quick care, and the community for stepping up and sharing information.

“These officers are out here every day protecting our community,” Smith said. “They put their lives on the line to keep us safe. And for some piece of crap to shoot them because they don’t want to go back to prison is just ridiculous. We are not going to put with it.”
