ORLANDO, Fla. — A new report ranks Florida third in its ranking of the top high schools in the United States.

Overall, the U.S. News & World Report ranked Massachusetts as the leading performer in the nation.
In Florida, the report said the School for Advanced Studies in Miami ranked the best in the state.
The highest ranked high school in Central Florida was Westshore Junior/Senior High School in Melbourne. The school ranked fourth overall in Florida.
U.S. News & World Report said its rankings are based on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.

Here is a list of the top 10 schools in Central Florida, including their rank in the state:
- Westshore Junior/Senior High School, Melbourne, #4.
- Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Merritt Island, #14.
- Orlando Science Middle High Charter, Orlando, #30.
- Osceola County School of Arts, Kissimmee, #35.
- Hagerty High School, Oviedo, #47.
- Timber Creek High School, Orlando, #50.
- Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School, Cocoa, #57.
- Crooms Academy of Information Technology, Sanford, #58.
- Professional and Technical High School, Kissimmee, #64.
- Winter Park High School, Winter Park, #84.
