Westbound SR 408 reopens after 3 crashes in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Westbound lanes of the East-West Expressway reopened Monday afternoon in downtown Orlando after they were closed because of a crash.

Police were called at about 1 p.m. to the crash, near East South Street, which caused major delays in the area.

“Our community service officers were working the first traffic crash when two subsequent crashes occurred,” a police spokesman said. “There was a total of three separate traffic crashes in this location involving five vehicles.”

Two people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was being diverted to Exit 11A, which leads to South Rosalind Avenue, but the road has since reopened.
