ORLANDO, Fla. — Saturday is a Weather Alert Day. Channel 9 Severe Weather Center 9 will update this story throughout the evening.

Update 10 p.m.
Areas of rain and thunder remain possible overnight ahead of a passing cold front.
Quick downpours and lightning will be possible with any stronger storms as you’re trying to sleep, as well as gusty winds.
For Sunday, a stray light lingering shower is possible, but most of the day looks dry, windy and much cooler.

Update 6:45 p.m.
Scattered storms have already built into parts of Central Florida, with Marion County seeing the most rain so far.
Rain and thunder will become a little more widespread later this evening. Watch for areas of heavy rain and lightning in stronger storms and risk for an isolated damaging wind-producing thunderstorm.
Rain chances will continue through after midnight, then gradually taper off.
By morning, a slight chance of a lingering shower will be tapering. Colder and windy weather is expected for Sunday.

Meteorologist George Waldenberger said mid-afternoon conditions were warm and humid across Central Florida, but clouds were building.
By 3 p.m., isolated, strong storms had already fired over Marion County, and intense storms will remain possible through sunset in Marion, Flagler, Northern Lake, and Volusia Counties.
He said that into the evening, another line of storms will approach from the west.

With these storms, heavy rain and lightning areas will move across Central Florida later Saturday evening and from west to east.
The line will lose steam as it moves through, and by morning, a few lingering showers will be lifting.

This rain will give way to a much cooler and gustier Sunday.
