CLERMONT, Fla. — A convenience store chain will mark a historic milestone Thursday.

Wawa is celebrating its 59th anniversary with Wawa Day in Central Florida, where customers can enjoy a free, any-size hot coffee all day.
The Clermont location had a “day brightening” with a $50,000 check presentation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and a ceremonial coffee pour.

This Lake County Wawa was just one of the ten locations with a special event honoring the anniversary.
Before the celebration, Wawa asked customers to send in their stories of teams who brighten people’s days, and for every story, Wawa donated $50 to the Children’s Miracle Network.

These donations will support patients and their families.
Customer Shirley Carpenter nominated the associate known as the Grandma because she showed kindness to Carpenter and her family.

According to a news release, the company opened its first store in 1964 and launched a foundation in 2014.
