WATCH: Mama polar bear rescues cub from drowning at zoo

In a dramatic clip posted to the Awesome Videos Facebook page Sept. 22, a polar bear cub loses its footing and falls into a tank in its zoo enclosure. Without missing a beat, mom rushes onto the scene, jumping into the water to rescue her little one from drowning. The touching clip has gone viral, with more than 2.7 million views as of early Tuesday.

Although thousands of Facebook users "liked" the video and praised the mother bear for saving her baby, several debates about zoos erupted in the comments section.

"How about rescue them out of the zoo?" one user wrote.

"Sadly, their natural environment is disappearing," another user responded.

Awesome Videos did not provide the name or location of the zoo.
