WATCH: Drivers stopping for turtle on highway cause chain-reaction crash in Florida

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in the Florida Panhandle said drivers stopping for a turtle crossing the highway may be to blame for a chain-reaction crash.

Walton County deputies said a driver stopped on State Road 331 South on Tuesday morning, to let a turtle cross the road.

That caused several other vehicles, including a semi-truck, to crash.

Deputies want to remind drivers that trying to avoid or help an animal can put you or other drivers at risk.
